The Power Pack Podcast is Rollin On!!
Every caped crime fighter has their nemesis. Batman/Joker, Spiderman/Green Goblin, Ronald McDonold/Hamburgler… So it is for Power Pack. That’s right, Carmody is back and he has his own power suit to hunt down those adventurous adolescents. But, will his new suit be enough to capture the kids, or did he dive to the depths of the dollar bin for his duds?
Spoiler….he has 99 problems and the dollar bin is one of them….
That is not all of the drama in this issue. Julie, in the face of a math test she has not studied for, is being pressured to ……CHEAT!!! Will she do it? Will she take answers unearned? Will she sully her good name or will she rat out her classmates?
These are all fine questions that will probably be answered in this weeks installment of Unpacking the Power of Power Pack!

Are you sure it’s not pronounced bow-gie? Lemme check. (Hmm, doesn’t wear a fedora. Never says “Here’s looking at you, kid,” or “This could be the start of a beautiful friendship.”) Ok, I’m convinced. Boo-gie it is. Besides, his outfit is great for the disco clubs.
I hate hate hate Carmody. That’s the only thing that makes him threat at all, that I’ll break into the comic book myself to throttle him, and then I’ll be stuck in Power Pack forever. (I wonder if Stan the guard needs an intern.) And he’s so awful. “I’ll make the kids into weapons and sell them!” Someone who makes Annalee sympathetic. At least she was going to give the Powers a home. Yeesh!
And poor Julie. I know she’s character in a comic book, but this story really made me feel for her back in the day, and almost doubly now with my own daughters being her age. Just this week, the girls were stuck after school waiting for a ride because half the bus drivers were out sick. A bunch of kids stopped their bags in a big pile and were running around, while my daughter was just sitting there on her phone. The vice principal came by and asked if the bags were my daughter’s and she didn’t hear her at first. So the VP repeated louder, and my girl was startled and began crying and was scared she was in trouble and too many hormonal emotions. Not the VP’s fault, it was an innocent situation, and not used to my sensitive little lady. Where was I? Oh right, Julie. Good kids are NOT used to coping with being in trouble, and Louise/June captured this amazingly.
You guys are far too kind, and it was my pleasure to get those comics for you. Meeting Louise, June, and Bob was wonderful, and they were all obviously enjoying the Power Pack attention. That’s credit to your show as well. Thank you for reviving the Pack-heads out there.

One of the things that we need to do when we get to interview Louise Simonson is ask her for a pronunciation guide of her characters as we are kind of doing a best guess with some of them.
I think everyone hates Carmody, the guy has no redeeming qualities other than that he carries candy bars in his suit pockets for when the snacks attack….I mean if this is what the guy is like after he’s had a snickers could you imagine him hangry?
Sorry that your daughter had a scare and a cry because of it. It does show that dealing with adverse situations can be really hard for some kids though and I agree that Louise/une really can capture that well.
