FF #14: 27 Minutes

You can listen to the episode by clicking: Episode 141

I like to do a variety of gimmicks on these pages, especially since I run out of ideas on what to talk about. So, for this one, I am going to give myself 27 minutes to write content for this page. After 27 minutes, I am going to stop….cold. This is actually a good idea since I waited till the night before to put this together. So here it goes.

Beer and Book

Ok…all of the pictures are loaded and it is 9:41PM. I am going to write until exactly 10:07PM. Hopefully I did my math right. It was a long day and I did volunteer at an information booth to talk about the program I work at, so my brain is a little fried. But that is not helping inform you, the dear reader about anything. Onward.

Holding Pattern

Look at these kids, sitting around, looking at a space gate. Man, when I was there age, I had a stick. I was told that that would be my toy and the firewood for the night so don’t get too attached. But these spoiled kids get bored by looking at space and different realities. Bad parenting.

Coming Through

A little tip for all of you people. If you are ever faced with a galactic entity or a giant robot, never discount the effect of running away and hiding. Sure, when they destroy your world, the game is over, but still. Maybe you can go out with dignity. Ok, you probably will not, but at least you tried.

It Burns

Speaking of dignity, our Alt Reed buddy had zero of it left when he snuffed it after using the ultimate nullifier. Way to represent your cult my dude. You effected zero change. The only thing you contributed was a momentary light source when your body turned itself into a flame.

Doom

Now Doom, he is class. Absolute style. He went out like a boss. It does not matter how many times the Fantastic Four take him down. or how much they make him look like a fool. He is Doom.

Rock Gods

Again, giant robots are not your friends. Never were, and never will be. I think we all know that artificial intelligence will one day destroy us all…either that or a really bad fish taco. I cannot remember what the prophecy said.

Well Duh

But Doom…DOOOM….DOOOOOM……he will give us hope….if that hope is that we will all be ruled by someone who wants to rule us like a dictator. Huh…we probably will deserve that.

Party Time

Ok. So that is it. I set myself a time limit and let’s see what we have. Well, I have 14 minutes remaining, and I have produced a bunch of hot garbage. Good game coach, good game.

We also have some merchandise over at Redbubble. We have a couple of nifty shirts for sale. https://www.redbubble.com/people/jeffrickpresent/?asc=u

  1. Hey there my friends!

Another fine episode you gentlemen have produced! I have to say, that is a fine looking cover to this book. I can see how that would stand out on the comic stands. The title alone made me think of that survival picture with James Franco called 127 hours for no apparent reason except my brain being pickled by decades of movie titles and trivia.

I just got a subscription to Marvel Unlimited so I was able to go back and read this issue for the episode. Doom’s moment of heroism is pretty good to read there. I like bits of the art in this arc. It seems like there was a goal to homage Jack Kirby with some of the tech backgrounds and the look of some of the faces to the characters. It makes sense to me given the spectacular grandness the story is aiming you want to Kirby it out so to speak. Side note, potential gripe. Maybe it’s because I am new to the app, but the navigation is not good. I had to scroll through pages just to get to this volume of FF. All in all it seems like a fitting conclusion to the story arc, and I assume it goes to the main Fantastic Four book for the continuing story?

I enjoy your random banter segment as it gives me ideas of what to visit when I eventually travel to vacation up in and around the area. I think it is pretty cool that you can join up with other podcasters and have a dinner of wings. A few of your guests who have their own show I subscribe to now.

We just began the new school year now where I live and it has been pretty good. Rather than being sent to other buildings in my school district, my primary school made a point to make me a classroom aide this year. That keeps me put as opposed to last year.

Well, I’m off for now. Avidly awaiting the next episode!

    1. Hi Jeremy!

I can totally see the reason your brain tied 27 Minutes to 127 hours. I am trying to remember if I did the same thing or not. The answer is possibly yes, but my flat out honest right now answer would be that I connected to the song “Two Minutes till Midnight” by Iron Maiden. Funny how our brains collect and collate data isn’t it. I do that with jokes all the time. I hear a thing and then a pathway sparks up that is funny to hopefully more people than just me…but probably just me.

Lots of reading to be done on MU. Most, but not all, of what we cover is on there. You are not wrong though, navigation and finding stuff on there suuuuuuuuuuuucksssssss. It seems to be better on a phone than on a computer, but I know they changed the UI a couple of years ago for the worse. I think they did something to it again recently as finding a title got to be pretty bad. I was trying to find Fantastic Four #604 recently and it was a nightmare. Can’t remember how I found it but was shocked that I had such a hard time finding any comics about Marvel’s first family. So, fret not, it’s not you, it’s them.

Glad you like the random banter. I like it as a way to catch up with Rick and everyone about our lives. Kind of social media moment and something for people to relate to. If it gives you ideas for what to do if you come here for a visit, then all the better. Rick is the one that has joined up with the podcasters on multiple occasions, which I am a bit jelly about. I’ve stayed home and parented and the like. That needs to change at some point, ’cause I miss being the social butterfly I once was. Oh well, it’s been a me choice issue more than anything else.

Glad to hear you are getting to be a permanent fixture instead of a masterless educational samurai wandering the hostile plains of public education. Good on ya.

      Later gator.

      -Jeff
