Power Pack #62: Lo, There Shall Be an Ending!

You can listen to the episode by clicking: Episode 80

This is the end….the end of Power Pack! The end of the original series! The final issue! Nothing else …….well…actually……we have a a lot more content….BUT THIS IS THE END!!!!

We are SAAAAD!

There are tears!!!! There are feeling!!!!! There are rain clouds!!!! RAIN!!!! CLOUDS!!!!! I mean….can you acknowledge the absolute finality of this issue? I mean…it is, except for more content that is coming soon.

A Good Question

I guess we should talk about the contend of the book, but we are so sad, we have decided to join Alex, standing in the rain, asking deep philosophical questions. Deep questions that only be answered if you put on a trench coat, stand in a shadow, and brood. Questions like, why is this comic ending and why is Alex still a horse?

My My My Coffee

Sometimes standing in the rain is not enough. Sometimes you need a friend. Sometimes you need a good cup of coffee. And sometimes, just sometimes, you really cannot find any of those things and you are stuck with Reed Richards and some instant Folgers. It happens, and we should not get upset about it.

Jim Smash

Or….maybe we should get mad about it. I mean, Power Pack is still fighting the Red Ghost. You know, that classic Power Pack villain. Yeah, that is the arch-nemesis I would (not) use for the final issue of a 62 issue run of comics. Forget the Snarks and Boogeyman. Forget about the revenge of Johnny Rival. Make no mention of the Boulder Crusher or Trash! The Red Ghost is where it is at.

Jim Smash More

I am starting to see why Jim is so mad!

Alex in the Mist

As we close out on volume 1 of Power Pack….for now….let us gaze into a hazy Alex and think about the good times and friends we have met along the way. Let’s try and remember the laughs and joy from issues earlier in this series, And lets be back for more content in a couple of weeks.

  1. I’m looking forward to comics that I’ve read or can find on digital. In the meantime, momma Price said “If you can’t neigh something nice…” But hats off to you guys still having fun with these issues. Hang in there!

    1. Whoa there, little doggy! Hay, I didn’t know you liked comics. Why didn’t you neigh something? I thought you were a horse of a different color. Thanks for saddling up and keeping a firm grip on the reins while you joined us during the gallop to the sorta end of the mane series. Hmmm… I feel like I should have tried to put a horse joke in there somewhere.

  2. You know, reading these issues by myself was a sad affair. I could hear that Boys to Men song “End of the Road” leafing through the pages of this last issue. What an ignominious end of a precious book! The one positive from this batch of stories was just how important Louise, June, Jon and Carl were in this book. As far as re-evaluations of the title go, readers really have embraced those creators stories more today than in their day of publication.

Say, have you guys ever gotten to see any of the ‘zines you both spoke about several episodes ago? I remember reading something about one in a letter column and have always been curious of what one of those zines looked like.

Hope you guys have a great day!

    1. Sorry you had a sad solo read of the stories, this is one better read together… kind of like a wake. The best balm for them is keeping in mind that there are other stories with our favorite family in the future. Heck, they are getting more love now than…hmmm, just realized that there is the all ages stuff that we cover on Patreon that ran for awhile and other stuff besides. But I do get the sad at the ending of the original run…even though there is more to come from the original creators. I am doing a terrible job at being consoling aren’t I?

We have been given access to some of the fanzine stuff, for which we are grateful, and are trying to decide how to cover.

      Have a good one.
