You read that correctly, Weezie Simonson is on our show this week!!!

New Mutants 21

The co-creator and main writer of Power Pack agreed to join us for a long and rambling conversation about Power Pack. And we do eventually get around to talking about our pint sized super powered team. But first, we have to handle some important questions about food, wine, and beer. And we asked her the story behind these pictures!

House of Mystery

Weezie’s love of literature, and her adventurous youth have factored into her creations, and she gladly shared stories about her creative process. We discuss how she began her comic career, and how she developed her idea into an actual comic with June Brigman. We also make her laugh, which I cannot help but think is the most important sentence of this paragraph.

We may sound like rambling and blithering fan boys, but that’s because we are. A year ago, we never imagined we would be in a place where we would be talking to one of the great comic book writers. And we are immensely grateful to her, and the Power Pack fans who support us. We hope that you enjoy our talk with her.

  1. Weezie was just a delight to listen to. She was making me laugh throughout. Plus those surprise tidbits about Power Pack. The Powers’ apartment was based on her and Walt’s place? MIND BLOWN! I loved every minute of it. You guys did fantastic, and no surprise, you had a great time as well. Simply wonderful! And I swear, I choked up a little when Weezie said “Costumes off!” What the hell!!

I’m so happy you got to do it. Fingers crossed you’ll get to chat with her again sometime, whether you podcast it or not.

And thank you again guys for the kind words about me and your other fine fans. When you’re a big success, maybe you’ll still remember us little people. … well maybe not me, I might show up asking for change to buy 25-cent comics, so probably gotta change your address by then.

Where was I going with this? Um… Oh yeah! Loved the show! Dunno when, but I gotta give it a relisten sometime.

    Kudos, you Pack-men, you!

    1. It was a lot of fun getting to spend time with her and picking her brain on some Pack stuff. Of course, now I have a handful more things that I would like to talk to her about. With luck we will get to talk to her again. My dream is to get both her and June on after the new Power Pack stuff they are working on comes out.

It is funny to think that we have fans, I just think of it along the lines of: We put out some stuff that we think is fun, some people listen to it and some of those people interact with us…which is cool. Don’t think I will ever forget the people that interact with us, they are one of the big reasons we keep chugging along and making with the silly

      1. If you did have Weezie and June on the show together, I’d probably stop listening to podcasts because nothing could top that. 🙂

        Keep silly the making!
