Power Pack #30: Crack-Up

You can listen to the episode by clicking: Episode 40.

Issue one of the Crack Saga.  This is the issue that Alex begins his crusade against the insidious drug….CRACK! But, how is our blonde boy going to find out about this drug and what it does? Why through his new bestest (and possibly only) friend Johnny Rival and his gang. What a nice group of boys.

Best Buds

I would like to tell you that this is a sunny tale, full of rainbows and unicorns, but there is not one equine looking creature around, and even the rainbow quota is low..which is impressive since one of the team can make rainbows at will.

Brotherly Love

What we do have is a lot of physical abuse against family members and friends.

Parental Advice

Criminal activities.

NO!

Drug use and Overdosing.

Pushing up Daisies

And homicide. Remember how this is supposed to be a “kids book?”

RIP

But we try to lighten the mood as much as we can, so don’t be too sad.

  1. Guys, you did great! This is the hardest issue to date to discuss and find any fun in. And you still came thru with an entertaining podcast, while not shying away from the seriousness and troubling themes in the story. Well done! High fives all around! And it’s ok to get under a thick quilt and cry a little because OMG this story!

You know, if you needed Johnny Rival’s voice for this episode, I’d have been glad to. Oh lord, that would have been inappropriate. I could get away with my silliness in issue #29. Not so much in this one.

So I’ll leave it at that. Onwards to “Trash!” … oh boy…

    1. Thanks Tim! We really are trying to skirt that boundary between funny and offensive…seems like we did okay with it. At least that’s what we have been hearing from people, which makes me happy. So high five received and returned!

PS- The best part was making Rick feel bad about his top art pick…that still makes me laugh.
